Individuality

Some people may wonder if Christians have any fun, or do anything out of the ordinary.  Alison Strittmatter, 20, is a senior at Rowan University.  She attends Fairton Christian Center—FCC—in Fairton, NJ.  Last weekend, FCC had a women’s conference on Saturday, September 26, 2009, and Strittmatter participated in the event.

Strittmatter said that there were special parts at the conference.  She said there was a time for worship, which is when singers and musicians take a part.  She played the piano during worship.  Strittmatter said there were special songs done by the Trinity singers and Ronnie Lamb.  Also, a woman shared a testimony.

She says the speaker of the event was Angela Coons.  The message she spoke about was individuality.  Strittmatter enjoyed the conference.  “The conference was on personality types and the different ways God uses the different gifts and talents of each personality type (choleric, sanguine, melancholy, phlegmatic),” she said.  “It was all excellent.”

She said that this can relate to Christian college students.  “As a college student/young adult, it is sometimes hard to find my place in the world, in church, and with new friends/new people at college,” Strittmatter said.  “Sometimes it’s hard to remember who I am, in Christ, and not just who people think I am or who I portray.”

She wants to give advice to students who may feel the same way as her.  “Remember to be you. God only made one of you. He made your personality to be unique to you,” Strittmatter said. She says it’s important for Christians to know their true identity.  “Remember your identity does not come from your job, your money, your relationships in the world, your clothes, or your GPA…it comes from the one who died for you.”
